Described as the modern James Bond movies the Mission: Impossible movies are in many ways very similar to the classic 007 story; rather than a handsome Brit working for Queen and country, driving flashy sports cars and bedding beautiful women audiences are given Tom Cruise, a tiny wooden actor with minimal sex appeal and little moral depth acting as a hired gun spending his money on high tech gadgets. All in all Ethan Hunt is the less classy, less sexy and less interesting James Bond.
In actual fact any comparisons between Bond and Cruise’s Hunt are unfair, as the Mission: Impossible movies are generally accepted to be little more than action movies, lacking any of the complexities of the true espionage genre; including those tricky narrative requirements like plot and characterization. The plot of this second MI movie is arguably even thinner than the first one and is more like an excuse for Tom Cruise to run around a lot and the special effects department to go to town.
Where the first film had a plot no one could really understand, Watch Mission Impossible Two movie online has a plot so transparent that it is barely worth understanding, various elements of the movie are shockingly familiar, seeming to be pieced together from the jigsaw of Hollywood classics from the genre.
The romance element of the story, for example, comes directly from Hitchcock’s Notorious in which the hero convinces his love interest to resume an affair with an ex-lover in order to spy on them, yet whilst the Hitchcock film takes a bittersweet turn when the hero realizes he can no longer care for and respect his love for what she has done, the thought doesn’t seem to cross Hunt’s mind. This single example epitomizes the morals of entire movie: essentially taking these classic elements and bastardizing them for an ignorant modern audience; and I personally find my mission to enjoy such a poor quality and patronizing film utterly impossible.
