Spider Man

The earliest of what was a trilogy of movies Spider-man was the top grossing movie (USA Box Office) around from the release and marked the start of the most important aspect comic movie franchises. Directed by Evil Dead’s (1981 - 1992) Sam Raimi the movie stars Tobey Maguire, Kristen Dunst, James Franco and Willem Dafoe as Peter Parker, his down the street neighbor and unrequited love Mary-Jane, Parker’s buddy Harry Osborn and Harry’s father Dr. Norman Osborn who becomes the evil Green Goblin.

One of several film’s best achievements is it’s casting, particularly those of Maguire, which upset many fans before its original release. However Maguire’s performance is often a strong and rounded one in that he manages to display both shy and gentle side of Peter Parker plus the courageous and difficult nature of Spider-man. A rigorous training regime also helped Maguire to be the part and for that reason sparking a uniquely new female fan base for ones movie.

At its heart Spiderman is just a fun thrill ride, with plenty action along with pleasant love triangle sub-plot it ticks most of the boxes. There is little explicit violence while in the movie; however its parental guidance rating was debated somewhat upon its original release. By already changed standards of today the film would seem to generally be perfectly appropriate for most children, as it is usually a subject best left with the parent’s discretion.

The effects and action sequences were notably impressive back then, but still stand very well a after its original release. Read movie news on Digitalfreedom of your favourite actor and actress.
