Johnny Depp and his Tattoos

The vast majority of his tattoos have been completely done by Chicago tattoo artist Jonathan Shaw.

Johnny claims: "My person is a journal in many ways. It's like what sailors i have done, where every tattoo meant something, a selected amount of your daily routine once you have a mark on yourself, whether you're doing so to yourself having a knife or having professional tattoo artist."
Johnny has a number of self-inflicted knife wounds on his left forearm. These people were done so that you can remind him of items that happened, both good and bad.

Native American Head - Johnny features a Cherokee Indian chief directly his right bicep. This is the tribute to his ancestral heritage; his grandmother was Cherokee. It's reported as Johnny's first tattoo, dated a little time in 1980.

Betty Sue - Tattooed in just a heart surrounded by a tribal marking on his left bicep. It's just a tribute to his mother. It was subsequently done on May 31st, 1988.
Inverted Triangle - On his left upper arm above his "Betty Sue" tattoo, Johnny has got an inverted black triangle. Johnny hasn't already said precisely what it way to him but an inverted triangle is a symbol of this feminine, of your heart or an expression of romantic love.

Wino Forever- On his right upper arm, over the Cherokee head, there might be a banner using the words "Wino forever". This originally read "Winona Forever", a dedication to his then-girlfriend Winona Ryder. Once they broke up, he'd it altered by detaching the latter letters.

The Brave Symbol - It's a symbol used and seen in various scenes of one's film The Brave, which Johnny directed and starred in. It's attached to the inside of his right arm. Click the black text to read through Johnny's interpretation of the symbol.

Lily Rose - Once the birth of his daughter Lily-Rose Melody, Johnny had her name tattooed in the left side of his chest approximately his heart.

Swallow and Jack - This can be the tattoo found in the film Pirates within the Caribbean, Curse of one's Black Pearl, for a signature in the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. Johnny had it done following completion of the film with one difference - the swallow flies towards him. Under it she has the category of his son, Jack. Johnny has stated he made the modification to the direction on the swallow because, "You need to have it flying towards you. He's got to continually fly to you."

3 - Between thumb and the index finger of his left-hand, Johnny has got the number 3. Depending on Johnny "Three is mostly a kind magical number personally. It can be a very creative number. Triangle, trinity, you realize, two people make some other person. Three is known as a mystical, magical number." But on another occasion he was quoted as saying: "It's merely three, man; an associate just place it there someday each of us were bored."

Three Rectangles - Externally his right calf, Johnny possesses a tattoo of skull and crossbones together with the words "death is certain" under it.

Skull and Crossbones - A matter mark that have an x rather than dot is tattooed on Johnny's inside lower right leg. This is basically the same question mark like in the Brave symbol.

? - Something mark with the x instead of a dot is tattooed on Johnny's inside lower right leg. It does not take same question mark that is to say the Brave symbol.

Unknown Marks- Something looking like three vertical stripes or three dots can be purchased inside his left lower-leg.

Silence Exile Cunning - This tattoo was seen for the MTV Movie Awards in June 2008. It's inside his left lower arm therefore it reads "Silence Exile Cunning".

Three Hearts - In April 2009 usually in the filming in the Rum Diary in Puerto Rico, three hearts were noted to the triceps of Johnny's left arm.

Portraits - First noticed in the press conference photos belonging to the Kustendorf Film Festival 2010, each of Johnny's inner forearms seemed to happen to be tattooed with portraits.

Gonzo Fist - Several new tattoos were first associated with photos taken while in the summer of 2010, in the filming time period of Pirates of your Carribean: on Stranger Tides.

Modified Skull and Crossbones - At the end of July 2010, a newly inked tattoo was noted on Johnny's left forearm.

Skull and Crossbones - A skull and crossbones tattoo on Johnny's right inner upper arm was initially noticed in photos consumed mid-August 2010.
